Scott has always enjoyed a variety of art mediums including watercolor, wood carving, topiary design and others. It was not until his residency in Oakley, California that he started making detailed watercolor paintings of various animals. All of Scott’s paintings are based on some life experience whether working with the featured animals in some fashion or simply snapping a picture of an interesting animal at a important time and place.

Due to being red-green colorblind, Scott uses a very limited palette when painting. On average, each painting uses a total of 5 colors. With a background in medicine and anatomy, detail is given to each animal. This detail combined with a limited color palette gives each painting a richness that is unique.
